WebJun 1, 2010 · I would try the following steps: press and hold menu and select for 5-10 seconds to reboot the iPod when the screen turns black for a reboot, press play and select at the same time and hold it for 5-10 seconds (this should put the iPod into disk mode) WebI have a preowned 160gb iPod Classic device which I have been using for about 2/3 years now. Over the past year, it sometimes showed a tick or a cross with the message “Do not disconnect” like this, usually after dying, and this would usually be resolved by holding down Menu and the centre button for a few seconds.
