The only street/strip engines that really benefit from floating are ones that need pistons changed out regularly, or ones that turn 8k rpm. I've pounded 200hp nitrous shots and 7k rpm on press fit pistons/rods for many miles without any problems. WebJan 5, 2016 · If your pistons have provisions for retaining clips, they can be used in either a floating or press fit rod. The retaining clips are just left out in a press fit set up.
